Watched the lions game and have just calmed down enough to say that as far as i'm concerned South Africa should be nicknamed the scum bags, not the spring boks. I have never seen such cynical cheating and dangerous play. The lions pack had obviously got the beating of them so they reverted to thuggery and extreme dangerous play. They should be ashamed but I'm sure they think that they have achieved something. It wont be long before teams will have to dress up like US footballers.

God help us.

Roll on B**f lets have some good old fashioned nastiness.

The words "sore" and "loser" spring to mind.

So what would you class as 'good oldfashioned nastiness' ?

Didn't see too much dangerous play. No more than any other international. The Boks are a tough, physical side. They play hard. (obviously not condoning the gouging incident which was pretty bad.)

I still think what went on in not acceptable Berger should have seen red and the Lions would have won, which is what his thuggery deserved.
I am not a sore loser (Have been supporting Glos RFC too long for that) just hate sneaky cheats.

The sunday Times article went along the same lines. I'm not sure I have pasted and posted but here goes:

I don't think I have ever heard a more wilfully stupid remark in sport than that of the South Africa coach, Peter de Villiers: “It's sport, man. This is what it's all about.”
Well, it's not. Eye-gouging is not sport. It's criminal assault. Eye-gouging can damage the vision of the assaulted person for the rest of his life. It can lead to blindness. You can't control the degree of severity of a good gouge.

I agree in principle but the names Danny Grewcock,Brian Thomas and even Nathan Hines spring to mind.
We have our fair share in UK rugby.

The biggest criticism of Burger is he has done similar things before and he still gets selected.

What i liked about last weeks game was the Corporal Jones comment "they dont like it up em "

I've just watched the Rugby Club, where Dewi highlighted several rucks, where England had the likes of Borthwick and Deacon just standing out doing nothing. Several times at the ruck, Australia had only one player involved, usually the tackler, whereas England had committed 4, 5 or sometimes 6 players to the same ruck! And still slow ball!!!!
